El otro día un cliente me trae su laptop para reinstalarla y al encenderla tenía contraseñas en el BIOS y en el DISCO, como era de esperarse el cliente conocía sus contraseñas y bajo mi recomendación le quitamos la contraseña al disco duro ya que que yo iba a conectarlo a través de un gadget adaptador por usb para respaldar sus archivos. Bien, quitamos la contraseña del disco rígido y respaldo sus archivos y ZAZ, quien sabe por que el BIOS empezó a pedir el password del administrador. el cual no me había pedido al entrar la 1º vez, el cliente me dijo que era el mismo password, y he aqui mi desesperación, no funcionaba. Bueno averigué el password por las malas y aquí está el tutorial basado en un post en inglés. El Bios cortó la contraseña por 1 letra al final y el cliente puso el mismo password pero en mayúsculas, yo jamás me hubiera dado cuenta.
The other day a client brings his laptop to me to reinstall it and when powering on, ask for passwords in the BIOS and the HARD DISC, as expected the customer knew his passwords and under my recommendation we cleared the hard drive password, (I was going to connect it through gadget adapter by usb to backup his archives, done!). Well, we cleared the password of the hard disk and do the backup and OOOPS!!!, the BIOS began to request password of the administrator. which not ask me when entering 1st time, the customer said to me that password was the same, and I have here my desperation, did not work. Good I found out password by the bad way and here it is the tutorial based on this original post. The Bios cut the password by 1 letter at the end and the customer put the same password but in capital letters, I would never realize that. There is my guide:
Armamos el circuito como se muestra en la figura y en las fotos de abajo vemos como conectamos los componentes y más o menos como me quedó a mi, ustedes lo pueden soldar como quieran pero a mi me resultó más cómodo como se ve en la foto.
We Build the circuit as in the picture and in the pictures below, we see how to solder the components and more or less how to I do, you can solder as you wish but for me was more descriptive like that on the picture.

First Step of the Build / Primer paso de la construcción
Ahora que ya tenemos el circuito principal desarmamos la laptop siendo muy cuidadosos y buscando el chip atmel 24RFC8 del bios que en mi caso se encontró debajo del mouse en la Thinkpad T42p como se ve en esta otra foto. Estos cables los dejamos sueltos para juntarlos manualmente con los del circuito de lectura.
Now we have the main circuit and we go to dissasemble the laptop being careful and looking for atmel 24RFC8 chip. In my case was below the mouse pad. We leave those cables opened, to short manually with the same color cables of the reader circuit.

SCL The Upper and green, SDA the lower and yellow/ SCL es la patita de arriba verde y SDA es la de abajo amarilla.
Hold The cables with something / Pega los cables con cinta adhesiva.
Abre desde una terminal de comandos en windows la carpeta donde se instaló y escribe r24rf08 dump.bin pero no des ENTER espérate y haz los pasos siguientes.
Open a command line termina on windows and go to the proper folder, and write the following without hitting ENTER r24rf08 dump.bin hold there and follow the next steps.
Recuperando la Contraseña
1. Enciende la máquina desarmada con los cables soldados
2. Aprieta F1 al inicio para entrar al BIOS.
3. Esperate a que no haya actividad de ningun tipo 1 minuto más o menos.
4. Conecta el circuito a la otra PC y primero conecta TIERRA, después el SDA y por ultimo el SCL.
5. Ahora ve a la computadora ayudante y dale enter al comando de lectura del BIOS.
Dumping the password
1. Turn on your ThinkPad with all the wiring you just soldered.
2. Press F1 during the startup to enter the BIOS.
3. Wait untill all activity stops, blinking HDD leds and such.
4. Connect the ATMEL Chip reader. GND first then the SDA and SCL.
5. Now go to your spare PC and Hit enter on the command prompt.

Using the translator / Usando el traductor.
Abre el archivo bin con el segundo programa y recuerda presionar el botón de traducción, en mi caso me volví loco porque creí que el programa lo hacía por defecto.
Open the .bin file with the second program and remember to activate the Translate Button, in my case I belive the program do it by default.
